About Fan Funding

Fan Funding is a new way to make voluntary payments to support the YouTube creators you love. If a creator has Fan Funding enabled, you may see an  icon in the corner of their video. 



Step 1 of 5: Click that icon to get started! You can also click theSupport button on their channel page.

Step 2 of 5: Choose how much you'd like to pay. Only the recipient will see the amount you choose.

Step 3 of 5: If you'd like to leave a comment on the video along with your voluntary payment, click Leave a comment.

Your comment will have a special badge next to it to let people know you supported (but the amount you selected will not be displayed).

Step 4 of 5: If you already have a Google Wallet account, simply choose your form of payment and click Buy. If you don’t have a Google Wallet account, you’ll be prompted to create one. Learn more about Google Wallet.

Step 5 of 5: Enjoy the thank-you message from the channel and check your email for a receipt.

How much of my voluntary payment goes to the creator?

The vast majority of your voluntary payment goes to the creator. YouTube takes a small fee to cover the cost of processing the transaction. That fee varies by country:

Country	Approximate fee per Transaction
Australia	AUD $0.23 + 5%
Japan	JPY ¥22 + 5%
Mexico	MXN $2.70 + 5%
United States	USD $0.21 + 5%

For example, if you made a $10 Fan Funding voluntary payment in the US, YouTube’s fee would be $0.71, and the creator would receive $9.29:

Can I get a refund on a Fan Funding voluntary payment?

Fan Funding voluntary payments are non-refundable. If you're having trouble with a payment, you may contact our support team.

What platforms does Fan Funding work on?

Fan Funding is supported on your desktop browser and the Android app (version 5.7 or higher).
